The place I would like to study for Physical Geography is Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I chose to study this location because the Palm Islands has one of Dubai's finest locations for tourists and is interesting to see how the geography enabled scientists and engineers to transform an open sea to physical land. Dubai's unique qualities of rocks and minerals, soil, water, and weather all can be applied based on the concepts that will be studied in this course. The Palm Islands are man-made Islands that are built by sand and rock, but threatened by earthquakes and erosion, according to a a YouTube documentary by National Geographic in 2014. It is estimated that there is one-ton of rocks that cover the sand and two layers of six-ton rocks to hold the structure. Pictures speak a thousand words. So here are some pictures about the developments of this project.
Enjoy my pictures trip to Dubai summer 2011.
